Field Guide

Year Two has officially begun, and in a fashion similar to my first year. We were given a debrief on what our first module will entail, how we should develop and produce it and what is required of us to successfully do so, alongside some insight into what new technologies and areas we will be discovering and implementing into our studies throughout the first part of the year.

From what I heard, the module should create some new challenges and also prompt me to further my existing skills and refine them to university degree level (whatever that is).

Title: Interface Design Investigation

Description: Find an old, unwanted or broken device with some form of interface (mechanical, electronic etc). Investigate and evaluate how the interface works, its qualities and shortcomings. Create a field guide to that object, and it’s interface, using words and images (photographs and/or illustrations). Be sure to include you observations, criticisms and constructive ideas.

Deliverables: PDF format + short presentation to the group.

Considerations: The design aspect of your presentation is important, think about it. Choose your fonts and your colour scheme thoughtfully. How does it relate to your object? Consider how it might translate into a website?

Deadline: Tuesday 30th Sept / am

Now, I must find an interface.
